Variability #1

Although some recipies call for very specific cooking times and temperatures, the thermostats which are equipped within most ovens are not able to maintain tight control over the oven temperature.  A ten degree variation in temperature would likely not ruin the cake.

 

Variability #2

Similarly, a fifteen degree variation would not be abnormal for a common oven.  It is doubtful that even this variation would affect the cake significantly.
